today has been an absolutely meaningful experience for me
the trip to kranji war memorial was unforgettable
in ways more than one

i never knew so many people died for us.
and seeing theirs graves, their names on the walls, somehow made it all too clear to me
somehow made it more personal

the place itself holds an aura of peace and serenity
the sun was burning but somehow didnt seem to affect me much
the wind was strong enough to sway the trees furiously
and yet, it was calming.

i had never been to a place in singapore that holds this much meaning to me as kranji war memorial does.
i will never forget how it has changed my life, in showing me how precious life is, how much people these days take so much for granted.

our safe homes, running water, sanitation
was a gift of peace. and i never knew.

to the brave members of operation rimau, operation jaywick, the POWs, malay regiment and everyone else who suffered in the war:

The sun burned, the wind blew, I stand still, in rememberance of the people who bravely gave their lives for us. I salute thee, thy war heroes.
